MY LIFE AS I LIVE IT

I'm a single mom with two great kids living near Dallas, Texas. This is my life; day to day things that are probably only important to me. This is my record of my ups, my downs and the road that I've taken along the way. For whatever reason YOU'RE here, I hope you find something you can enjoy and/or relate to. God bless.

Draining

Okay, so it turns out my knee didn't have an infection, I had fluid on my knee. Saw my surgeon today and he had them drain the fluid off of my knee and I got a shot of cortisone. They numb it (again with a shot) before they drain it. I don't mind the pain...it's the needles I can't stand. So, the pain wasn't too bad, and they say that hopefully within a couple of days I'll start getting some relief. I have to stay off of it and I can't go to therapy, which is a bummer, for a week.

Dang knee.

When I came home from work, Charlie's band was rehearsing at the house. I'm really not exaggerating when I tell y'all that this band is amazing. What's even more amazing than the band is that Charlie is living his dream, how cool is that? I'm so happy for this kid.

What's everyone doing for the 4th?

I hope the knee starts doing better soon!

For the 4th, we're taking our son to his first fireworks. Previous years he hasn't been interested in going (too loud), but this year he's excited. We're also going to a parade.

johnnie (aka: thorn in my butt) ~ I'll video some of it and put it up here...it's metal and not everyone is gonna appreciate it though. :) And yeah, it still ticks me off that I lost my switchblade in that street fight.

3 c's ~ he's gonna love that. I'd say take pics but I know you don't post pics...bet they'd be adorable though!

Hope your knee feels better Kath!

You know, when I had my band practicing at my house in a SEPARATE garage no less, my mom would be like, "TURN IT DOWN!!!"

You're awesome!

Can't wait to see the video! Metal my not be my music of choice, but I will still enjoy getting to see Charlie play.

We are going to a party at our neighbor's house on the 4th, and loading up our car to leave bright and early the next morning. :)

Hope your knee gets better soon! Oh and by the way, in that street fight, was it Johnnie that you were laying out? Just wondering, because that would explain him needing back surgery and all. ;)

I've never had that, but my kids both had fluid on the knees, usually following athletic injuries. I know it is miserable, to put it mildly. Wishing you have a quick recovery and no unhappy returns!!

Fluid on the knee can be painful [so I’ve heard], but what about the inconvenience!

You're a better mom than I will be regarding band time. Hard rock is my least favorite, but I'll take Classic Rock any day of the week.

We're just hangin' at home. My daughter is too young for all the loud stuff.

I love that Charlie is doing what he loves and has the support of his mom. How awesome!

Sorry to hear about the knee... that sucks!

Plans for the fourth... maybe a parade and fireworks downtown Annapolis. It's the day before and we aren't even sure yet! What are you doing?

believer ~ yeah, well, the fluid isn't pleasant, but it's not child birth either and that's what I gauge pain by. :)
I am not a fan of Charlie's type of music at all...but neither was my mom of mine. In all honesty, when they play without the vocalist, it's pretty great. The vocals is that growl type singing (grunge?) and it's painful to listen to...for me anyway. But the music is really cool.

lovelladro ~ I know, I'm so happy for him. All he's ever wanted to do is play and write music and he's not only doing it, but it's being well received! They've got an agent, and even Austin's 6th street wants them to come play. How could I not support him?

The 4th. Casey is working a double shift and has Saturday and Sunday off so we're going tubing down in San Marcos. Friday Charlie and I are going to a pool party a friend from work is having.
Good times!

That knee sucks eggs, huh? Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but my hubby has had a knee injury since he was 18 - he's 40 and it's too early to do the math for me, but he's had about 10 surgeries through the years and still has to get cortisone shots and get it drained every 6-8 months. He's very, very active though - playing softball 4-5 times a week and most weekends, so if you don't try to be "macho man", you may not have to go through it so often.

Hope it's better soon. Bet you can't guess what we're doing for the 4th. - Yep, baseball - all weekend. yay!

Kathi, Hope your knee is doing better by now. I've had knee issues and that can be a bummer.

I went to my sister's house for the 4th. I've posted pictures if you have time come on over and take a look. Be blessed. JC
