Go Left, Go Left...
When you are in the left turn only lane and go straight, you are likely to hit the car to the right of you who is in the lane that has the option of also turning left or going straight. You see, they can go straight, because they are in a lane that has that option. You, however, are not. You are in the left turn only lane...and the problem is, if the car to the right of you is opting to turn left, which is well within their right, and you go straight, well...you'll hit them. Hard.
So, I was in the right lane turning left early Saturday morning when this sweet little old lady in the left turn only lane went straight...into me. She told me, she told the police, she told anyone who would listen, that she was just in the wrong lane and got confused.
Her car was much bigger than mine.
*Btw, I'm okay. :) A little sore from the impact because my door was what took most of the impact. Got a few bruises and banged my knee up, but all in all, I'm okay!

Oh my gosh! Well, you must be OK, since you're blogging...How's the car?
OMG!! Were you hurt?? Is the car driveable??? Lord, don't scare us like that without details!! I'm sending up prayers for you!
3 c's ~ I'm okay, a little sore from the impact. My left thumb and my right knee were hurt (yeah, I dunno) but I'm good. The car, not so much. My door took most of the impact, and it's crushed in.
dabich ~ just a little. Actually, it hurts to walk on my knee, but I've not missed any work. I remind myself of Chester off of Gunsmoke (how's that for dating myself, lol?). If it doesn't get better, I'll see the doctor.
Sorry I scared you, I wrote this about 1:30 a.m., thanks for the prayers!!
Geez Kath! That's scary. I'm glad to hear that you're okay---which is the most important thing here. Those lanes are so confusing--------even for me sometimes.
My prayers and thoughts are with you !!! xxoo
I'll add another one...OH MY GOSH!! You can't just leave us all hanging, you gotta let us know that you are OK, and tell us how the care is.
I am so sorry that this happened, but hopefully she has good insurance that will take care of it for you. I know that this was the last thing that you wanted to deal with right now though.
Let us know how you're doing. I'll be prayin' for ya girl!!
OK...so as soon as my comment published I see that you responded to the ones before me.
Glad to know that there are no serious injuries, but I'll be prayin' for your knee. I've got a bum right knee myself right now, so I know what a "pain" it can be. :)
I'm glad you're OK. I hope your thumb and knee feel better soon. Was it your driver's side door? If you feel you might need to see the doctor, you might want to do it sooner than later, if you can have it be covered by her insurance. It might be harder to put it under her insurance after the fact...
deb ~ I felt sorry for the lady, she was obviously confused and very sorry. She was driving a new Saturn SUV, ran right over me...lol. As always, thanks for the prayers.
michelle ~ I'M SORRY. :( I've gone back and added a side note. I wrote it so late, I'm sorry.
The car, I dunno, the door is pretty bad and it's running funny, but I can drive it. Hopefully her ins. will provide me with a rental soon. Thanks for the prayers!
michelle ~ lol, we're posting right over one another! Thank you, what's up with your knee?
3 c's ~ yup, my drivers door. Yeah, I may, but I don't have insurance and I've not heard from her ins. yet. I know I need to soon though. Thanks for caring. :)
Awe honey I'm sorry. I hope your car is going to get fixed & that you are not hurt too bad. ((hug))
so sorry to hear that kathi! prayers that you are feeling back to normal as soon as possible! i have to say for being hurt and crashed into... your post was hysterical... love the lesson before the story ;~)
kidd ~ thanks, the insurance co. just called, and they will provide me with a rental. Yay for that. And me...I'm always 'fixable', lol. I'm tough.
lovelladro ~ thanks for the prayers!! Always happy to make you laugh!
I advocate making driving and vision tests mandatory past the age of whatever is older than me.
seven ~ my kind of guy...wait, am I older than you? :)
Dang! I know you were sore the next day. Remember my accident in Feb? I pray that the outcome of this mishap finds you in a better place perhaps with a better car. Oh, your knee...you had better get that x-rayed. My mom fractured hers in our accident and had to go through therapy. Be well!
PS Don't let the insurance company dictate concerning your car. If you need pointers, email me. ;)
I am SO GLAD you are okay. Having a banged-up body and car is danged inconvenient, and I hope it all is returned to normal soon.
Hugs.
Oh man!! Maybe you'll get a new car out of the deal.
rosemarie ~ I may just be needing your advice sweetie, they won't pay for my going to the dr., saying all out of pocket costs MIGHT be reimbursed at the end of all it, only I DON'T HAVE MEDICAL INSURANCE!
nancy ~ thank you, me too.
amanda ~ lol, doubt it, and I LIKE my car, it was my dads.
Whoa. Most importantly, you're okay.
Secondly, congrats on taking a driver-side lick. You'll be ready for Nascar's Bristol in no time....
wes ~ yeah, leave it to you to put the nascar 'spin' on it. Goofball :)
stay away for a few days and I came to find this! what are we gonna with you?
shawn ~ hmmmmm, I'm open to suggestions.
