MY LIFE AS I LIVE IT

I'm a single mom with two great kids living near Dallas, Texas. This is my life; day to day things that are probably only important to me. This is my record of my ups, my downs and the road that I've taken along the way. For whatever reason YOU'RE here, I hope you find something you can enjoy and/or relate to. God bless.

One Weekend Down, A Lifetime To Go...

The boys and I went to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie yesterday. The showing we were going to was sold out, so we bought tickets for the next show and waited 40 minutes in line...there were actually 6 lines, and we were in line 4 to get in. Fortunately, Casey managed to keep us entertained...that kid is such a blessing.
The theater was so packed. The boys always sit in the first couple of rows, I like to sit in the very middle, maybe a bit more towards the back, with my feet up on the chair in front of me. Well, that was out of the question. The ushers were having everyone move in towards the middle so there'd be more seats together. This opened up two seats next to me instead of one and a couple sits next to me. I kid you not, I have never smelled anything or anyone so nasty in all my life. It smelled like the man was rotting from the inside out. I knew there wouldn't be a seat anywhere else for me to sit, and I either needed to stay or leave the theater. This was an older man, maybe 60ish or older and for some reason, the odor was stronger sometimes than others. I so wished I'd had some perfume on me, I'd doused myself with it. A lot of the film I sat with my hand over my nose or fanning myself. Lord, have mercy, it was out and out foul.
I didn't know if it was because of the odor around me, or because of the film itself, but it seemed to go on forever. Not that I didn't enjoy the movie, but if Johnny Depp wasn't on the screen, I just kept wondering how much longer I was gonna have to sit there.
After the film, the kids said basically the same thing...it was too long. But, I do love watching Johnny Depp.
We had lunch at Steak and Shake. Been awhile since we've been there, but that's where they wanted to go and we enjoyed ourselves. My kids, they are the absolute best. They've got the greatest laughs in the world.

Thanks a lot Kathi....now i have to drive for an hour to get to the nearest Steak and Shake 'cause you made me have a craving. LOL

Pirates was long....and a blatant ploy to make people come back for the third movie....and you know I'll be there.... Darn that sexy Johnny Depp

Stinky people suck....hmmm....I guess that would be "stink" wouldn't it? LOL

Johnny Depp is awesome...Orlando Bloom is DREAMY! Dang, is he hot!

Oh yeah...the post...'scuse me ;)

The man with the odor reminds me of a concert I went to see last summer. We had good tickets, for SEATING under the roof of the pavilion. This provides shade, and in case of rain, shelter! Anyway, we took the seats our tickets listed, which were good seats. We could see the stage well. Three people file in and sit next to us...and yes, you guessed it...the kid who sat next to me smelled of body odor (like he hadn't showered in a month) so horribly, it nearly made me puke! I kid you not. THEN...when I was starting to be able to tolerate his body odor, he starts passing gas! I swear! By that time I had had it, and said loudly, "JEEZ! It's bad enough this idiot doesn't shower and smells rotten, now he's farting and he stinks worse!" I thought my hubby was going to choke on his laughter. We got up and moved across the aisle to vacant seats, as we neither of us could stand it any more! If the concert had been sold out, we'd never have been able to do that. That the Lord for simple pleasures!

Sorry to be so long, but I had to share :)

I am glad you liked the movie...
Johnny Depp is one of my favorites!
But... the smelly man... well,
that wasn't too grand!
I had an encounter with a lady
at the grocery store a few weeks
ago... she was behind me in line.
The odor was soooooooo bad.
I was so glad I only had a few items. I wanted to hold my nose.
Stinky is not nice to be around.
You have the best kids in the
world!

Kathi, Hubby and I went and saw it yesterday. Other than getting to see Johnny Depp on screen, I think it pretty much sucked. IT WAS way too long, I got bored quite a few times through the movie. Thank goodness for my nachos and twizzlers, huh?

Too long I agree. Seth made it the whole time without a bathroom break, so that it must have been pretty good. As far as the smelly dude. I have no sense of smell, but if I did I think I would have had to buy one of those extra large pops and accidentally dumped it on him. Probably would not have made it worse, and at best he leaves. It would have been an "accident." Hey, I never said I was that nice of a guy, lol. Life is beginning anew for you, and I am happy to be part of the audience. My guess is that you pump out a wildly popular novel soon. You have it in you, and now you have the time.

Kids make life so much more entertaining. They help me loads with my situation. I love mine to death. Best thing my husband ever gave me. As for the smelly dude, sorry to hear about that. Some people with diabetes have a bad smell, so maybe thats what was wrong. I am like you, I went to that movie to see Johnny Depp prance around but seeing Orlando's torn shirt was to bad even if he is just a baby. LOL I am glad you had a good weekend. I am continuously suprised at how well I can live my life without a husband. I miss him but I have found I don't need him to make me, me. I hope you find that to be the case for you too.
I will be praying for you and your kids to have a great life.

crystal ~ yeah, if I'd had anything to eat with that smell, I'd been making my own...all over the floor, lol.

tom ~ wasn't anyway to get refreshments without losing the seat, or place in line. I kept trying to get the boys to go get something for themselves, but they said they hated it when people cut in line and that's what it would look like they were doing. Silly kids.

anne ~ I can not tell you how grateful I am for them. :)

phoenix ~ Orlando is a cutie, but just doesn't do it for me like Depp... :)
I don't think I've ever needed anyone to really make me 'me', but gotta say, I'm enjoying the king bed all to myself, heaven.

Glad you had fun.

Haven't seen teh pirate-movie yet. Doesn't seem like my type, and as I don't have any kids, I don't really have to comply... :)

Packed theaters... guess that's a part of the experience, a part of what makes it so great.
On the other hand, when I went to see Panic Room, I was all alone in the theater. GRAND! :)

I may not see it in the theaters. Not sure. Sorry about the smelly guy - some people who smell don't know that they do. Your own body sort of forgets your smell.

I am soooo sorry you had to set next to Mr. Stinky Pants. Ugh, that sucks. I could tell you stories about stinky people that would come into Wal-Mart on a regular bases back when I worked there. Dear Lord!!! It’s like they have no idea what water soap and deodorant are for!

Other than that and the too long movie, sounds like you had a nice weekend. ((hug)) I’m so glad that you and your boys have each other.

Sequals are never quite as good as the originals----don't you find that to be true? Johnny Depp does such an incredible job in it though! I absolutely love him.

I'm glad you had a good time. I can't believe that guy with the bad odor! Do they even know they smell? I never understood that at all. Me, and my OCD, I would have changed seats---seriously---and knocked out some usher if he said one word about it!

Ugh. The thought!
