MY LIFE AS I LIVE IT

I'm a single mom with two great kids living near Dallas, Texas. This is my life; day to day things that are probably only important to me. This is my record of my ups, my downs and the road that I've taken along the way. For whatever reason YOU'RE here, I hope you find something you can enjoy and/or relate to. God bless.

It's Homecoming!

Tonight is our High Schools Homecoming game. Tomorrow is the Homecoming dance. Casey and a group of friends are going to Papasito's for dinner and then on to the dance. Can't wait to take pictures of he and his date, Lillie. This is a picture of the 'mum' (though he opted for one without the mum, but with a teddy bear instead) that he gave his date to wear to school today. A tradition here, is it everywhere?
His senior year...wow, every time I think about it I'm torn with excitement for him and a little loss for me. I can't imagine how much I'm going to miss this kid next year. All I know for sure is that the world is going to be a much better place with him in it.

I've never seen the mum/teddy bear thing before. Nice picture, though.

3 carnations ~ Maybe it's just here...they're huge and the girls wear them around school, all day.

Oh yeah..I have done the mum thing. It was a big big deal at our school. The bigger the mom your boyfriend got you the cooler you were.

I remember one time in junior high my "date" totally cheaped out on my mum and I was too embarassed to wear it at school. I was such a brat.

Looks like Casey did good. Im sure he will have lots of fun. Make sure you get pictures of him and his date!

Hmmm..Papasitos....yummy!

They are starting to come back to me now. Some mom had too much time on her hands and they look kind of over the top!!!! Maybe over the years they have evolved into these giant corsages. Its all about where you live and what the tradition is I guess. They are pretty boring here, dozen roses are expected and the presentation of said roses shall be done at school along with the formal request to attend the dance. The first rquest is done to test the waters and kind of on the down low so as not to cause too much embarassment to either party should the girl not be interested. Isn't it always about the show!!!
Tell Casy I said have fun!!!!

Ah, he is a cutie! I don't remember this mum thing either. But then again, I was not one of the cool kids. I'm sure no boy would have given me a mum even if it was something that my school did. I'm sure he is going to have a great time. Our homecoming is tonight as well.

hey there up north!
how is your subbing? I finally started ... had a fear about it but getting over it. Really have to work on classroom managment at times.. any tips? I got 5 th grade this monday - I hear they are ruthless ! read my last post HAHA.
Its scary relying totally on subbing for my mortgage etc. I just passed my EXCET test for teaching art but still have to get into a teaching program (Soon) I hope to be an art teacher for 07/08. whgat do the pay for subbing up there? its $80 a day here (with a degree)
Its wonderful how proud you are of your son. my daughter graduated HS early and is already in her 3rd yr. of college at age 19 ! I REALLY missed her for 2 yrs but now we are friends and there is some distance -- but we are ay ok. Girls are so different... she's an only child and I guess my dog and critters make up for the empty nest. well, not quite...

I wore a few mums in my day as well, but I'm from Louisiana so our traditions are probably pretty similar to y'alls. I hope he has a great night!!
