Just Trying To Matter
Yeah, yeah...I posted this morning and some how it's lost in cyberspace. Apparently blogger had to reboot my system and in the process, my post got the 'boot'.
I'm not going to repost it, it was just about how boring I thought last nights Academy Awards Show was.
The one thing that I did think was worth mentioning was Reece Witherspoon, when accepting best actress for Walk The Line, said that whenever June Carter Cash was asked how she was doing, she would always reply "I'm just trying to matter". That, alone, made the show worth watching (though it was off and on) for me.
"I'm just trying to matter"...what a great attitude.

I'm a BIIIIIIIGGGGGGG REESE FANNNNN! I hate the Oscars. I don't watch award shows but I was hoping she'd win and I am glad she did. She was up against some very talented ladies but this was Reese's night. I am so proud of her! I just hope Ryan doesn't start that (I'm jealous) routine. You see what's happened to Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe. Men...LOL!
I could have sworn I put a comment in here this morning....but after thinking I was banned from your site I realized blogger was messed up...I couldn't get into several sites.
I didn't watch the awards...that's a great quote..I like it alot
Like Shawn, I stayed away from the show. Our reasons may be different though, I'm seething with envy. Not because I don't have an Oscar, that's not what it's all about, but because I seem so far away from that party that I'll never even get the invite. I dig the quote too. It think it resonates with everybody trying to create something and give it to the world.
stacy d ~ Hey, Ryans movie won best of the year, shouldn't be too jealous. She's a cutie and seems so down to earth. Great acceptance speech.
mike ~ yeah, you did...I just didn't like what you said. LOL. Love ya.
shawn ~ so what were you doing last night instead? Huh?
tom ~ it's their loss, and you will get there.
Just trying to matter. What a smug little wench, always caring about her position in the world. What if other people want to matter, is that tooooooooo much for her? Kidding, loved it.
cm ~ such a hard hearted... :) kidding. love ya!
Kath, I could not get into your blog yesterday. I tried a few times. Were you having blogger problems? It was only with a few of them. It said that I was FORBIDDEN to come on to your site! lol! Did you kick me out?
Anyway, Madelene and I were just talking about that one line, I'm just trying to matter." Love it. What a better way to answer someone when they ask what you are doing in life......hmmmmmmm.....I just respond...."I'm just taking up space." *sigh*
I love this quote and think we should all have it as our mottos...hmmm...wonder what the world would be like if we did.
I guess that's better than my "I'm just trying not to scream" huh? Although mine is more appropriate at work.
Her speech was about the only thing I remember from the Acadamy Awards. I turned it on just in time to see her win, and I really liked what she said in her speech. I think that we are all "just trying to matter" in some way or another.
Love ya! Sorry I've been slackin' in blog world...
Kathi, you have been TAGGED....!!!!
I was watching other stuff like FoL, checking email and writing. Half of the time I haven't seen most of the films that have been nominated so watching is a chore.
